Christmas Message

Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to this fledgling blawg and offered encouragement and tips along the way. My simple message is this:

Do something nice for someone this season. The "random act of kindness" is one of the truly great gifts one can give in this day and age of hurried and impersonal communications. It can be as simple as jumping a dead battery in 3 degree weather, donating some cash to a worthy organization, or perhaps offering help to our men and women in the armed services in some small way.

Some practical advice: after reading of a problem with a rebate on a piece of hardware in the web log, The Common Scold, I offer the following:

I have submitted dozens of rebates for various items. Make sure you make copies of everything, especially the UPCs. I started scanning them a few years ago and have had to submit them when my paperwork has been "lost." By scanning them, they can be submitted via e-mail. Also, keep a "Rebate" folder and write down on the form what day it was submitted. Keep copies of all e-mail communications as well.

That's it for now. I'm on vacation from December 23rd through January 3rd, but I will attempt to blog a bit during that time, even if it's only some personal observations on the weather (looks bad for the next few days).

Later
